What the heck is "kludgy?" Why is it a bad thing?

A kludge is a workaround or quick-and-dirty solution that is clumsy, inelegant, inefficient, difficult to extend and hard to maintain. It is a rough synonym to the term "jury rig." -Wikipedia

Always striving to create the cleanest, simplest, most elegant and uncluttered code keeps things running smoothly and makes future fine-tuning and updates a breeze.

Things done “un-kludgy” are better in the long run!

Web Design & Development Qualifications

Marshall Lomolino

I’ve been working at designing, maintaining, and developing websites full-time since 2012. I taught myself basic HTML in the late ‘90s and designed The Other Cheek website at that time. It actually stood the test of time very well, and I only recently went back and re-designed and re-vamped it, bringing it up to today’s standards. More recently, I’ve learned CSS, VBSCRIPT and C#, worked on ASP and Visual Studio/MVC sites, and gained experience in CMS systems such as WordPress and Joomla. Responsive and mobile-friendly and dedicated mobile sites are another current area that many are eager to expand and/or upgrade to, and that’s become another of my specialties! My most recent learning experiences have been JavaScript/AJAX and PHP/MySQL. Best of all, I really do enjoy doing this work. There’s a nearly limitless opportunity for continuing to expand and learn!
